SACRAMENTO, Calif — Heavy rain moved across northern California Saturday bringing a half inch to an inch of rain. Thunderstorms rolled over areas of Chico, Oroville, and eventually moved toward Marysville, Roseville, Lincoln, Antelope, and Auburn into the evening.
Hail and lightning was reported. A special weather statement issued at 5:45 pm was extended an extra hour as the thunderstorms remained overhead.
Clearing overnight will lead to cold temperatures in the upper 30s and low 40s.
A Winter Storm Warning for the Sierra expires at 8am Sunday. An additional 1-3 inches are possible into early Sunday morning.
Sunday will be a clearing day with mostly sunny skies for the valley and light lingering snow through at least early Sunday morning. By Monday, sunshine returns regionwide and temperatures rebound into the low 70s.
As the week goes on, we'll undergo a slow but steady warming trend. Low 80s are expected by midweek and we could see our first 90° day of the year on Friday or Saturday.
The Eta Aquariids meteor shower will be hitting its peak this weekend. Best viewing will be on Sunday with the clearing skies and dark skies as we approach the new moon phase.
TONIGHT: Clouds clearing. Valley lows in the low 40s and Sierra lows in the 20s. Sierra snow continues.
TOMORROW: Clearing skies with highs in the upper 60s. Lake Tahoe highs in the low 30s. Lingering snow showers.
MONDAY: Sunny with highs in the low 70s. Lake Tahoe highs in the low 40s.
TUESDAY: Sunny with highs in the mid-70s. Lake Tahoe highs in the low 50s.
WEDNESDAY: Sunny with highs near 80°. Lake Tahoe highs in the mid-50s.
THURSDAY: Sunny with highs in the mid 80s. Lake Tahoe highs in the low 60s.
FRIDAY: Sunny with highs in the upper 80s and low 90s. Lake Tahoe highs in the mid-60s.
SATURDAY: Sunny with highs in the upper 80s and low 90s. Lake Tahoe highs in the mid-60s.
MOTHER'S DAY: Sunny with highs in the mid to upper 80s. Lake Tahoe highs in the low 60s.
