SACRAMENTO, CA - The upper Yuba River floodplain is in line for better flood protection with the governor's announcement that $47.5 million is headed its way.
Schwarzenegger said Wednesday that the funds, appropriated from 2006 Proposition 1E which authorized $4.09 billion in general obligation bonds to repair and rebuild California's most vulnerable flood control structures, will go to the Three Rivers Levee Improvement Authority (TRLIA) to help provide 200-year flood protection to south Yuba County.
TRLIA must provide just over another $20 million for the $68 million project. Construction is scheduled to be completed by June, 2011.
Schwarzenegger said the work will mean 200 jobs.
