It's not spring just yet, but you wouldn't know it from Saturday's warm temperatures. The high temperature on Saturday in Sacramento was 80 degrees, while Stockton's high temperature was 79 degrees. Residents of the foothills enjoyed warmer temperatures as well: the high in Auburn's was 73 degrees.
More warm weather is expected Sunday. Sunday's forecasted high for Sacramento is 82 degrees. The record high for Sunday is 83 degrees set back in 2007.
Spring officially arrives with the Vernal Equinox on Thursday. That's when the sun shines directly over the equator and the length of day and night is nearly equal. It occurs twice annually; first in March, then in September. The March equinox is set for 9:57 a.m. on Thursday.
Cooler temperatures are on the way with the 70s making a comeback for the work week. However, the cooler weather will not bring a solid chance of rainfall.
