WOODLAND – The funnel cloud spotted Friday near Woodland was a tornado.

That's according to a Tweet Saturday evening from the National Weather Service.

A trained weather spotter was the first to report the funnel cloud 6 miles east of Woodland. The spotter said the funnel was about half way to the ground from the base of the cloud, near Interstate 5 and about 9 miles south of Karnak.

The report came in at 6:24 p.m., triggering a tornado warning from the National Weather Service by 6:28 p.m.
