SACRAMENTO - Officials with the Sacramento Kings have confirmed they are involved in talks to purchase the Sacramento Republic F.C.
The Sacramento Bee, which first reported the story, says no agreement is in place yet. News10 confirmed representatives from the Kings will be in Portland later this week to meet with officials from the Republic and MLS. Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson is also expected to attend the meetings.
The Republic, currently owned by Warren Smith, have set attendance records for their current league, USL pro, since joining the league earlier this year.
