DANVILLE, Pa. -- Doctors had a simple goal when they first saw how a football-sized rock thrown from an interstate overpass in central Pennsylvania had shattered parts of Sharon Budd's skull - keep her alive.

After nearly two weeks, including a marathon surgery lasting more than 13 hours, they are cautiously optimistic.

The Ohio teacher's arms and legs appear to be moving appropriately, and her brain pressure is normal. But doctors don't know how her dexterity and fine motor control skills will be affected.

It's likely she won't regain use of her right eye. A tube in her brain was removed Monday.

Although Budd, a middle school language arts teacher in the Perry Schools district, is somewhat sedated, she's been able to follow her doctors' commands, mostly shaking her head or wiggling her fingers and toes.

Four teenagers have been charged in the July 10 rock-throwing, three as adults.

State police charged two more juveniles in connection with the July 10 rock-throwing incident.

Tyler G. Porter, 17, of the Milton area, was charged as an adult while a 17-year-old identified only as KLM, of the New Columbia area, was petitioned into Union County juvenile court.

Brothers Dylan, 17, and Brett Lahr, 18, also of the New Columbia area, previously were charged and are free after posting $50,000 bail each. Porter was released on $50,000 unsecured bail.

Arrest affidavits allege Dylan Lahr and Porter threw rocks onto I-80 from the Gray Hill Road overpass about two miles west of Route 15. Porter admitted to police he threw a rock but claimed it did not hit a vehicle, the document states.

A tractor-trailer truck was hit just before the Budd car but the rock damaged only a metal piece on the bug protector.

The four teens, who know each other from school, went together in one car to the overpass, police allege.

Budd's daughter, Kaylee, 19, was driving and her husband Randy was in the backseat when the rock hit their car. Only Sharon Budd was injured.
