WYOMING, Mich. (WZZM) - Wyoming Police have released more details about last week's triple homicide.

Brooke Slocum, 18, and Charles Oppenneer, 25, were killed last week. Slocum's soon-to-be born baby also died.

Brady Oestrike, the suspect in the murders, took his own life on Thursday, July 17 after a chase with police.

Wyoming Police released Monday morning that the cause of Oppenneer's death was likely trauma to the head, but the exact cause has not yet been determined, due to the fact the Oppenneer's head had been removed from his body and has not yet been found.

Detectives say Slocum died by strangulation. Police said more than 400 items were taken from Oestrike's home, including restraints, and there was evidence that Slocum had been held there for some time. Wyoming Police Chief James Carmody says investigators believe Slocum died the same day her body was discovered in Oestrike's trunk, following the police chase.

Detectives also found property from Oppenneer and Slocum in Oestrike's home.

Police say that Slocum had been corresponding with Oestrike on Craigslist to arrange a sexual meeting. Officers say they had agreed to meet at Gezon Park for sex on Saturday, July 12. Oppenneer was to be present during the act and Oestrike would pay Slocum.

Carmody says Oestrike's death doesn't end the investigation. The FBI and Internet Crimes Against Children task force will contribute to the third phase of investigation, which will include sorting through data storage devices taken from Oestrike's home.

In their search for more potential victims and suspects, Carmody says detectives contacted a former girlfriend of Oestrike, who had filed a police report for domestic abuse involving him. He says she is fine.

During Monday's news conference, Captain Kim Koster read a statement from the family of Oppenneer: "We are thankful for the thoughts and prayers that we received and in turn have the deepest sympathy and sorrow for Brooke's family."
