Bones revealed by the relatively low water level of the Sacramento River near West Sacramento last week are those of a prehistoric Native American, the Yolo County chief deputy coroner says.

The general identification of the small bones and a few teeth was made by the Human Identification Laboratory at Chico State University, Chief Deputy Coroner Gina Moya said.

A person walking along the river bank north of County Road 127 and east of Old River Road spotted the bones on a small, exposed beach along the river on Friday and contacted the Yolo County Sheriff's Office.
