SACRAMENTO – An accident involving two big rigs and a car backed up a significant portion of westbound Interstate 80 in Sacramento Thursday morning.

California Highway Patrol spokesperson Liz Dutton said a ladder in the road forced the driver of a Lincoln SUV to swerve, causing a chain reaction collision with two big rigs.

One of the big rigs carrying dried fruit overturned, causing it to spill its load and leak diesel fuel.

Three people were transported from the scene with unspecified injuries.
