Stockton police hope someone comes forward with information on who attacked a parking lot attendant on Wednesday, June 25 at 2:30 p.m.

The 76-year-old man was injured in the city parking lot at 24 North American Street, according to the police report. The victim was first taken to a local hospital, but the severity of his condition led to his transfer to receive more specialized treatment.

"He was transported for further medical treatment to a hospital in Modesto," Stockton Police Officer Joseph Silva said. "And right now he is in serious condition in ICU. And detectives don't have a motive for this crime or any suspect information."

Silva said investigators are hoping someone may have seen something that could help.

"So, we know since it occurred in daytime hours in downtown Stockton, someone had to see something, so we're encouraging that person to contact the police department," Silva said.

Anyone who can help them identify who's responsible for the attack was asked to call the Stockton Police Department at (209) 937-8377, the Investigations Unit at (209) 937-8323, or Crime Stoppers at (209) 946-0600. Callers can remain anonymous.

Information leading to an arrest may be eligible for a reward of up to $10,000 from Crime Stoppers.

Citizens may also text information from their cellphones to 'Crimes' (274637) and type the keyword TIPSPD and then their tip. Or they can log on to the Stockton Police Department's Facebook page and click "'Submit A Tip".

Additionally, tipsters may also send tips on the Stockton PD mobile phone app. Tipsters can remain anonymous.
