SACRAMENTO - Two people were found dead inside a south Sacramento home Wednesday after police responded to a call of shots fired on Glenhills Way.
Officers were dispatched to the home on the 6300 block of Glenhills Way after a man called 911 and police dispatch heard fighting in the background.
A neighbor said he heard three gunshots, followed by one more shot about two minutes later.
Police arrived at the scene around 11:20 a.m., surrounded the home and tried to make contact with individuals inside the house, Sacramento Police Officer Rob Morris said.
Nearby Camellia Basic Elementary School was placed on temporary lockdown as a precautionary measure for about 30 minutes.
SWAT officers were called to the scene around 11:35 a.m. to assist. They entered the home shortly thereafter and found two people dead of gunshot wounds, one which was self inflicted, police said.
Police at the scene said they are classifying the incident as a murder-suicide.
A south Sacramento-area school was placed on lockdown due to a possible shooting in the area. Sept. 3, 2014
