Sacramento firefighters rescued a woman trapped inside of a car that flipped into a drainage canal in South Sacramento.
The victim was transported to a nearby hospital, Sacramento City Fire Chief Jonathan Williams said. The woman was conscious and talking when she was taken out of the car. The extent of her injuries are unknown.
The crash happened at 65th Street and Elder Creek Road. Williams said the woman was driving southbound on 65th Street when she lost control of her car, drove through a chain-link fence and dropped 30 feet into a drainage canal.
The woman had to be extricated from the car after it flipped and landed on its roof.
The driver told firefighters she had just gotten out of the hospital; she still had a tag on her wrist when crews rescued her.
