Downtown Sacramento was full of color for the 30th Annual Pride Festival Saturday.
An estimated 10,000 people flooded the Capitol Mall between 3rd and 7th streets to celebrate the day and enjoy a parade along N Street.
Sacramento LGBT Community Center Executive Director David Heitstumann said the event is much more than a big festival.
"It's our largest community engagement program of the year for the center and it brings a lot of connections between community organizations and people from throughout the region, not just here in the central city," Heitstumann said. "It provides support as you said, financial support for our programs that we operate year-round."
The LGBT community continued the movement to bring "lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) Americans out of the shadows and into everyday society," the festival's website said.
