Northern California was a hot bed for talent in this weekend's NFL Draft.

Six local athletes were selected by NFL teams, two of them on Saturday, joining three others that went in the first round on Thursday.

Oklahoma wide receiver Jalen Saunders, born in Stockton, but now from Elk Grove, where he attended Pleasant Grove High School, was selected with the 104th overall selection by the New York Jets, in the fourth round.

Eric Pinkins of Sacramento, a defensive back who played at Inderkum high school in Natomas, was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks in the sixth round, No. 208 overall. He recorded 75 tackles last fall and is primed to play cornerback with the defending Super Bowl champions.

In the final round, Oregon cornerback Terrance Mitchell was selected by the Dallas Cowboys with the 254th overall pick. He was a star at Sacramento's Burbank high school before playing three seasons with the Oregon Ducks. Mitchell had seven interceptions in his three seasons with Oregon.

Saunders, Pinkins and Mitchell, were each drafted on Saturday and they join three other Sacramento area stars who were selected in the first round of the draft on Thursday.

Oregon receiver Brandin Cooks, who went to Lincoln High School in Stockton, was selected No. 20 overall as the first round pick of the New Orleans Saints. Five picks later, Fairfield's Jason Verrett, who attended Rodriguez high school before becoming one of the nation's top cornerbacks at TCU, went to the San Diego Chargers at No. 25.

Washington State safety Deone Bucannon went two picks later at No. 27, as the Fairfield and Vacaville area native, who went to Vanden high school, was drafted by the Arizona Cardinals.
