SACRAMENTO - Two teens were shot and killed when they broke into a Sacramento home on the 1000 block of Arcade Boulevard early Sunday morning, according to Sacramento police.

Police said officers responded to a report of a burglary in progress and found the teens dead when they arrived.

The Sacramento County Coroner identified the teens as Steven Crider, 16, and Michael Sambrano, 14.

Neighbors said the intruders, who were staying in the neighborhood, had burglarized the same home before.

Police spokeswoman Michelle Gigante confirmed Monday afternoon that fingerprints taken from one of the dead teens matched prints left behind during a burglary at the house on Easter Sunday.

Neighbors said the homeowner, Alice Hubbard Gordinho, 68, is a widow who had asked her older brother to stay with her because of the previous burglaries.

They identified the brother who fired the fatal shots as Brently Hubbard, in his early 70s.

Gordinho briefly spoke to News10 Monday outside her house.

"I don't have any comments to make on this. It's been a tragedy," she said. "I'm sorry for the boys and I'm sorry for me, because they tormented me."

Gordinho said her brother was struggling emotionally in the aftermath of the shooting.

Police said the residents have been cooperative and the shooter would likely be found to have acted in self-defense.
