SACRAMENTO, Calif. -The car of a missing Sacramento musician was found on the banks of the Sacramento River on Marina View Drive, just south of Lincoln Highway.
About 20 friends and family members gathered early Saturday to cover a wide area from Sacramento to the foothills when they found 28-year-old Broughty Cole's car parked, overlooking the river.
Sacramento police said there was no sign of foul play. Family members said the parking area is near a bike trail Cole rode in recent weeks, and the discovery is an encouraging step forward that helps focus the search.
"I just need to keep just doing everything that I possibly can and just not stop until I physically can't be awake anymore," Cole's sister Jamaica Cole said.
Friends and family have been looking for Cole ever since he failed to show up for a performance on Wednesday. He had planned to drive from Sacramento to Nevada City. He was last heard from on Monday.
All week, loved ones had few clues to Cole's whereabouts.
"If his car is found, we can get search and rescue involved, but right now the area that we're searching in is too big for them to be able to start," Jamaica Cole said just before locating the vehicle.
Now that the car has been found, investigators can try to figure how it got there and where Cole could be using the Sacramento River as a focal point.
"The Sacramento police detective that's been working with us, we believe, is issuing a warrant to get the bank to release his ATM information to us and video, so hopefully if he went to the ATM, we'll find out where and when," Jamaica Cole said.
In the meantime, friends and family will maintain their efforts to raise awareness with the hope that someone will come forward with information to help the search.
"Please be on the lookout. It's just, it's really important," Jamaica Cole said.
Loved ones said they will continue their search efforts Sunday.
