SACRAMENTO – Two Sacramento County sheriff's deputies and a detective were injured in a crash during a pursuit and arrest in the area of 65th Street and 18th Avenue Tuesday.

Sheriff's Sgt. Lisa Bowman said the deputies were transported to an area hospital with moderate, non-life-threatening injuries. The detective was hurt during the apprehension of the car's occupants and taken to a local hospital.

The female driver and her male passenger in the black Dodge Charger being pursued were caught and detained. Both are persons of interest in a homicide case, Bowman said.

Bowman said the pursuit began in the area of Vandenberg Drive and Peacock Wayand reached high speeds on surface streets before the driver T-boned the deputies' patrol car. Bowman said driver also veered her car toward a deputy on foot.

According to Bowman, both detained individuals would face charges of assault on an officer, narcotics possession and were wanted on outstanding warrants. Their names would not be released until they were booked into Sacramento County Jail.

65th Street between 14th Avenue and 21st Avenue was closed for two hours after the incident.
