SACRAMENTO – Investigators were called to 47th Avenue in Sacramento Tuesday morning to investigate the circumstances surrounding two cars burning across the road from one another.

Upon arrival, firefighters found one car burning next to the Superior Auto Repair shop and another on fire in the 47th St. Light Rail station parking lot across the street.

The auto repair shop sustained minor damage due to the fire.

The battalion chief at the scene said he suspected the cars were deliberately set ablaze since they were located so close to one another.

An arson investigator was called to the scene and The Sacramento Fire Department confirmed around 12:45 p.m. that both fires were results of arson.

Light Rail service was not impacted due to the fire.
