A woman was found dead in a midtown Sacramento apartment Saturday morning.
The victim, in her 30s, was found unresponsive by her friend inside an apartment unit in 1600 block of 17th Street, near Fremont Park, Sacramento police Lt. Justin Risley said. The friend went to check on the victim when she didn't reply to texts and calls.
When the fire department arrived at the scene, they pronounced the woman dead and notified police.
The woman was identified by the Sacramento County coroner as Kelsey Joy Snyder.
Risley said there was no sign of forced entry, leading investigators to believe Snyder knew the suspect. She died sometime overnight, but the time was unclear.
The cause of death was also unclear. Risley said there were no signs of gunshots, but there was evidence of a traumatic event, based on the position Snyder was found.
Investigators believe Snyder lived alone.
