ROCKLIN - The San Francisco-based escort website MyRedBook was shut down by the FBI Wednesday, and a man and woman were arrested for allegedly running the site.

Agents arrested Eric Omuro, 53, at his home in Mountain View and Annamarie Lanoce, 40, at her apartment in Rocklin. The pair is also accused of laundering hundreds of thousands of dollars in profits from the site to private bank accounts.

The raids are a continuation of an investigation called Operation Cross Country. It began Friday in 106 cities coast to coast, and targeted child prostitutes and their pimps.

"A lot of the kids we find are on the internet websites like MyRedBook.com, BackPage.com," Sacramento undercover police detective Derek Stigerts said. "They're basically posted and advertised in sections of these websites, and they're actually living in motels and hotels across the county."

In Rocklin, neighbors said they saw agents inside Lanoce's apartment and were stunned to learn she allegedly helped run a major escort and prostitution website, that often featured children.

"Scary, because there's a lot of kids around here and I have two kids myself," Lanoce's next door neighbor Michelle Griswold said. "So yeah, that's a little scary."

The indictment asks for the forfeiture of more than $5 million in property and money gained by facilitating prostitution through the websites MyRedBook and SFredBook.

The FBI said the same sites that often exploit children can become their own undoing.

"Much of what we do is through social media sites and the Internet," FBI agent Gabriela Betance said. "That's where a lot of the juveniles are recruited and that's how we're able to locate them as well."

Both suspects will be released on bail and must wear electronic tracking devices. Omuro is confined to his home in Mountain View. It's not clear if Lanoce is still in custody.
