SACRAMENTO – Roseville police were called to the 1100 block of Windermere Avenue at 6:20 Tuesday morning in response to a report of a son stabbing his father.
Roseville police spokesperson Officer Dee Dee Gunther said the first officer to arrive encountered a man outside of a home armed with a knife. The officer fired several rounds, striking the man, Gunther said.
Other officers found an 84-year-old man, the armed man's father, inside the home with multiple stab wounds. He was transported to an area hospital and was listed in critical condition, Gunther said.
The 54-year-old man shot by the officer was taken to the hospital in serious condition and is expected to survive. Gunther said he is suspected of stabbing the older man.
No names have been released.
No officers were injured.
