SACRAMENTO - An overturned big rig spilled diesel fuel and its entire load of steel pipes across the northbound side of Interstate 5 in Natomas Friday afternoon.
In addition to causing a mess on the roadway, the wreck forced the temporary closure of the freeway, leading to major traffic delays in the area, the California Highway Patrol says.
Traffic was being diverted onto Arena Boulevard while crews cleaned up the spills. No estimated time of reopening was provided.
The CHP said the driver of the big rig suffered minor injuries in the wreck. No information was provided on why he rolled the truck.
