One drawback of living with roommates can be disagreements over household chores. One such argument resulted in an arrest and a man being hospitalized in Sonora Sunday.
A release issued by the Sonora Police Department stated that officers responded to the Sonora Regional Medical Center emergency room around 7:45 p.m. Sunday night for an 18-year-old man being treated for injuries sustained in a "battery."
The victim told police he and his roommate got into an argument over his not doing the dishes. During the disagreement, Daniel Slawinsky, 27, threw a porcelain coffee mug at the victim. The cup hit the man and broke. Slawinsky then grabbed a second mug, charged the man and stuck him again, police said.
A third roommate tried to provide aid for the deep lacerations to the victim's neck but was unable to do so due to the nature of the wounds. One of the cuts sustained by the man was one-and-a-half inches long and a half inch wide, according to police.
Police contacted Slawinsky at his home on the 300 block of Fairview Ln. where he admitted to arguing with the victim over the dishes not being done. He also admitted to throwing the coffee mug at the man, police said.
Slawinsky was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Tuolumne County Jail for felony assault with a deadly weapon.
