DAVIS -A man stranded along the highway after a boat trailer got a flat tire was struck and killed in Davis late Saturday night.

It happened at the State Route 113 and Eastbound I-80 interchange just after 11:30 p.m. Saturday.

According to California Highway Patrol, a Toyota Tundra pulling a boat trailer pulled over along the I-80 and SR-113 merge lane due to a flat tire.

Two passengers then ran across the transition road near the guardrail while the driver unhooked the trailer and left to get a new tire.

CHP says when the driver returned, the two males ran across the road when one of them was struck and killed by a Chevy Malibu.

The other passenger safely returned to the truck. The pedestrian killed has been identified as 40-year-old Larry Vidaurry of Elk Grove.

The interchange was partially closed for an hour before CHP cleared the scene.

Investigators do not believe alcohol to be a factor in the crash.
