With mosquito and bird samples showing a high rate of West Nile virus infection, mosquito vector control announced it would be spraying in Davis and Woodland this week to protect the communities.
Using the insecticide Trumpet, aerial spraying over Davis take place Wednesday (Aug. 6) and Thursday (Aug. 7) evenings, from 8 p.m. to midnight, according to Sacramento -Yolo Mosquito and Vector Control District spokesperson Luz Maria Rodriguez. The targeted area is from County Road 29 on the north, south to Levee Road, and from County Road 98 on the west to County Road 105 on the east. The coverage area is about 20,000 acres.
In Woodland, the sector to be sprayed the same evenings is from Churchill Downs Avenue on the north to County Road 25A on the south, and from County Road 97 on the west to County Road 102 on the east.
The spray schedule depends on weather conditions.
