NORTHERN CALIFORNIA- One or more possible tornadoes were reported in Sutter County, Elk Grove and Lake of the PinesMonday afternoon, according to authorities.

The afternoon and early evening turbulent weather began in in Butte and Sutter counties.

Sutter County Sheriff's Department spokeswoman Brenda Baker said her departmentreceivedtwo tornado sightings. The first was at 3:01 p.m. near Highway 99 and the second at Mallard Lake Golf Center where trees were knocked down.

The Cosumnes Fire District and Elk Grove Police Department confirmed a funnel cloud sighting south of Elk Grove at Grant Line Road west of Highway 99 later Monday afternoon.

Elk Grove police received severalreports of damage from the weather event. On the 9300 block of Rio Ranch Circle two businesses and a home sustained damage; the roof collapsed at International Paper on the 10200 block of Waterman Road; four trees were uprooted on Rhone River Drive and there wasdamage to a structure on the 9500 block of Surritt Way.

Cosumnes Fire said approximately 20 homes in or near Oreo Ranch had broken windows, snapped trees and downed fences.

Asthunderstorms traveled in a generally northeasterly direction through the afternoon and early evening, there were National Weather Serviceradar indicationand public reports of a tornado near Lake of the Pines, eight miles north of Auburn.

Cal Firesaida church near its Grass Valley location had major roof damage and a tree toppled from its property onto a house at 10160 Combie Road in thesevere weather.

There were no reports of injuries.

National Weather Service tornado warning timeline

2:33 p.m.: Tornado warning is issued for northern Yuba County and south central Butte County until 3:15 p.m. Doppler radar indicated a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado near Iowa City.

3:12 p.m.: Tornado warning is issued for central Sutter County and west central Yuba County until 3:45 p.m. The public reported a tornado near Yuba City near Reed Road and Railroad.

3:37 p.m.: Tornado warning issued for west central Nevada County and central Yuba County until 4:30 p.m. Doppler radar indicated a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado near Marysville.

4:08 p.m.: Tornado warning is issued for southwestern Nevada County, west Central Placer Pounty and south central Yuba County until 5 p.m. Doppler radar indicated a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado near Sheridan, northeast of Wheatland.

4:57 p.m.: Tornado warning issued for southwestern Nevada County and central Placer County until 5:45 p.m. Doppler radar indicated a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado near Lake of the Pines, 10 miles northwest of Auburn.

5:44 p.m.: Tornado warning issued for southwestern Nevada County, northwestern El Dorado County and Placer County until 6:30 p.m. Doppler radar indicated and the public reported a tornado near Lake of the Pines or 8 miles north of Auburn.

6:26 p.m.: Tornado warning issued for northwestern El Dorado County, southwestern Nevada County and central Placer County until 7:15pm. Doppler radar indicated a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado near north Auburn.
