A 27-year-old woman died and her 28-year-old passenger was injured in a solo-vehicle crash early Monday morning.
The collision was at Howe Avenue and Fair Oaks Boulevard a little before 1:04 a.m., according to the Sacramento Police Department.
The initial investigation suggested the women were headed southbound on Howe when the vehicle hit the signal light pole on the southwest corner of the intersection.
Emergency responders described the passenger's injuries as serious and she was transported to a local hospital for care.
No names were released.
It appeared alcohol was not a factor in the crash, police said.
