A day after Jamie Anderson of South Lake Tahoe captured gold in The Games inaugural women's snowboard slopestyle, another Tahoe resident had a medal-winning run.
Julia Mancuso won the bronze medal in the women's super-combined. It was her fourth medal in three Olympics. No other American woman has won more than two medals in Olympic Alpine skiing. Mancuso captured gold in the giant slalom in the 2006 Games in Italy and silvers in the downhill and super-combined in Vancouver in 2010.
Despite leading the super-combined after the downhill portion of the event and not winning, Mancuso was thrilled with the bronze as slalom racing has never been her specialty.
The bronze by Mancuso gives Team USA five medals in Sochi: two gold and three bronze. Canada, Norway and the Netherlands are tied for first with seven medals, one more than Russia.
