From the moment you enter Jody Cooperman's 8th grade class at Sutter Middle School you can feel the students' excitement to learn in the air.
"Right now, I am working with students to get them more confidence to see how they understand how to construct a solid essay," Cooperman said.
For the last 13 years, Cooperman has been helping students reach their potential. She said teaching wasn't her first profession, but its a career she has grown to love.
"I actually fell into it because I wanted the same schedule as my children, but never realized that this was my passion," Cooperman said.
A passion her students feed off of everyday. Students said her class is always full of excitement, which makes it easier to learn.
"She is very motivated, you can tell," 8th grade student Amos Karlsen said. "I think everyone in the class would agree with me, she does what she can to make it fun."
Cooperman credits her success to her first principal. As for her favorite teacher growing up, Cooperman said she never had one, instead she is working to become her students favorite teacher.
When she's not taking students on field trips to Boston or giving them history lessons on the Holocaust, in her spare time, Cooperman is an avid runner who also coaches the track team.
