ROSEVILLE, Calif. (AP) - Police have arrested three experienced freight train hoppers in connection with the murder of a 19-year-old Southern California man.

The Sacramento Bee reported the arrests on Friday of 30-year-old Laura Lee Kenner in New Mexico, and 21-year-old Jules Carrillo and 23-year-old Edward Anauo in Nebraska.

Fishermen on May 15, 2013 found the body of John Alpert on the banks of Dry Creek in Roseville.

Alpert, of Palmdale, had told his mother he was going on an adventure on California's rail lines, but had abruptly stopped his daily communications in March 2013.

Roseville police spokeswoman Dee Dee Gunther says detectives did extensive research into the train hoppers' culture, and travelled to New Mexico last week to finish the investigation.

All three are expected to be extradited to Placer County.
