Thom Jensen is a veteran investigative reporter with 25 years' experience as a broadcast journalist. He has won individual Emmys for political and environmental reporting. In 2013 he was also honored as a member of a team which won a regional Edward R. Murrow Award and a regional Emmy for live reports from the scene of a tragic shooting spree at an Oregon mall.
His work as an investigative journalist in San Diego exposed bribery and other corruption by city council members and a sitting U.S. Congressman, CIA administrators and a local defense contractor. He brought to light backroom deals which wasted hundreds of millions of dollars in public money and was honored as the San Diego Taxpayer Association's "Media Watchdog of the Year" for his report on the hidden agreement which helped finance the construction of San Diego's PETCO Park. His reports also showed how city leaders illegally funneled tens of millions of utility dollars every year into the city's general fund to pay for pet projects and keep city offices afloat.
Thom is known as a no-nonsense "bulldog" reporter who uses his skills to stand up against injustice and waste and for security and health issues.
Thom and his family are new to the Sacramento area. He and his wife Melanie and their two children live in Gold River and enjoy walking the trails around the community.
