Three people survived, but one person did not in a two-vehicle collision in Amador County Friday afternoon.
The crash at Ridge and New York Ranch roads was first reported at 1:24 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
A female driving a black Nissan Maxima did not survive the crash impact, officers on scene said. The second vehicle involved, a Ford SUV, caught fire and burned for about 45 minutes. The threeoccupants were able toget out of the SUV. The driver was airlifted from the scene, while the other two passengers were taken to the hospital via ambulances.
The conditions of the three survivors was not known.
CHP investigators had not yet determined the circumstances of the collision, but believe it was a head-on crash. Investigators still need to talk to some witnesses.
