SACRAMENTO - A womantaken into custody after aman was shot and killed on a Light Rail train in Sacramento Thursday night has been arrested for murder, Sacramento police said.
Officers were called to the area of 11thand Ostreets by the train operator who heard shots fired and brought the train to a stop around 10:03 p.m., Officer Michelle Gigante said.
According to Gigante, responding Regional Transit police officersfound the suspected shooter still aboard the train and the male gunshot victim just outside the train doors. The suspected shooter, a woman, was detained at the scene.
Sacramento Fire Department personnel arrivedand pronounced the man dead from multiple gunshot wounds, Gigante said.
The man's name has not been released.
Friday, Gigante said the suspect in the shooting, 32-year-old Lynnsey Braun, was arrested and booked into Sacramento County Jail.
Interviews were conducted with witnesses and video surveillance footage from the surrounding area and inside the train were examined to determine the circumstances leading up to the shooting,Gigante said.
No other injuries were reported.
Detectives continue to investigate.
