SACRAMENTO - Sacramento County sheriff's detectives were called to a south county levee for the discovery of a body Thursday morning.

According to sheriff's Sgt. Lisa Bowman, the person appeared to have died under suspicious circumstances. A sheriff's deputy on routine patrolfound the bodyat about 8 Thursday morning. It wasabout 20 feet from the levee road along Snodgrass Slough off Twin Cities Road.

Information regarding the gender of the victim or how long the person had been deceased wasn't clear yet.

The Sacramento County Coroner's Office will release the victim's identity when its investigation is completed, Bowman.
