SACRAMENTO, Calif. - A North Natomas neighborhood will soon be receiving its mail at the neighborhood mailbox.

Mail delivery stopped on Dec. 18 after someone broke into a mailbox on Bill Bean Circle.

"No, no mail!" said Teri Latsko, who lives next to the mailbox.

Latskoreached out to News10 to try to find out why her mail wasn't being delivered. She thought it was funny they weren't receiving any cards the week before Christmas.

Someone broke the door off of the door to where outgoing mail is deposited, causing the US Postal Service to stop delivery to that box since it had been tampered with, USPS spokesperson Cindy Weight said.

"I even changed my bank account to a new one because I didn't know which way the [investigation] was going to go," said Daniel Baltazar, who was mailing checks to pay his bills.

"My son is waiting for his driver's license [in the mail]," added Linda Tuplu.

A letter carrier was supposed to leave a note on the mailbox telling people where to pick up their mail, Weight said, but neighbors said they never saw it.

News10 first called the USPS onMonday night; and by midday Tuesday, a new mailbox had been installed.

Residents in the neighborhoodneed togo to USPS and pick up their new mailbox keys and any leftover mail.
