SACRAMENTO - With Folsom Lake at just one-fifth of capacity, the city of Folsom is instituting mandatory water use restrictions.

Folsom Lake is the city's primary source of water.

*Residents and businesses to limit landscape watering to two times a week (with the exception of drip irrigation, which is not restricted). Customers with even street number addresses can water on Wednesdays and Sundays. Those with odd number street address can water on Tuesdays and Saturday. Avoid excessive watering that runs off onto sidewalks, streets or gutters. No watering is allowed on Monday, Thursdays, or Fridays.

*No washing of driveways, sidewalks, parking lots or streets.

*No city water will be used for construction purposes such as dust control, compaction or trench jetting unless approved by the the director of Environmental and Water Resources.

"Our goal is to gain compliance through voluntary cooperation," said Marcus Yasutake, Environmental and Water Resources Director, in a news release. "We are taking all reasonable measures to assure that our water customers are aware of these restrictions and believe they will do their part to use water wisely."
