MODESTO, Calif. - A long-term criminal investigation resulted in the arrest of a licensed bail agent from Modesto Wednesday.

According to a release from the City of Modesto, a joint task force comprised of investigators from the Modesto, Turlock, and Ceres Police Departments, as well as the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Department and Stanislaus County District Attorney's Office began an investigation into a series of violent crimes including homicide, soliciting drive-by shootings, soliciting home invasion robberies, and other significant felony crimes dating back to 2012.

Earlier in 2013, investigators received information that 34-year-old Praveen Singh, a.k.a. "Prajeer Singh" was entering the Stanislaus County Jail under the guise of a criminal defense investigator. While at the jail, Singh solicited active gang members to commit the aforementioned crimes, which included the drive-by shooting of a law enforcement officer's home in Modesto, and solicitation of a home invasion robbery of an illegal marijuana grow in Stanislaus County, according to the release.

Singh was located around 6:45 p.m. Wednesday and arrested on charges of attempted shooting of an inhabited house, soliciting the commission of a shooting of an inhabited house and soliciting the commission of a robbery.
