MODESTO, CA - One of two suspected robbers has been taken off the streets of Modesto following a home invasion in the northeast section of town Monday morning.

Modesto police spokesperson Heather Graves said fingerprints lifted at the home on the2400 block of Manor Oak Drive matched prints on file for suspect Steven Mines, 22. Officers caught up to Mines driving in the area of Standiford and McHenry avenues about 3:20 Tuesday afternoon. As officers attempted to pull over Mines, Mines drove off, Graves said.

The suspect's car ran a red light at Tully Road and Pelandale Avenue where it collided with another car in the intersection, said Graves.

Officers captured Mines and his passenger.

Graves said officers recovered stolen property, including a handgun, inside Mines' car.

Mines was arrested on suspicion of home invasion robbery, conspiracy, kidnapping and parole violations. His passenger, Amonte Jones, 21, was arrested for parole violations, Graves said.
