SACRAMENTO, CA - Future NBA Hall-of-Famer turned Sacramento Kings' minority owner Shaquille O'Neal was officially introduced during a Tuesday morning press conference.
Prior to the press gathering, O'Neal dropped by the News10 studios to talk about his decision to invest in the team, and apologize for his comments where he labeled the franchise "the Sacramento Queens" back in 2002 as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers. He said his comments were a marketing ploy and that it was nothing personal.
O'Neal was joined by Kings majority owner Vivek Ranadive and fellow minority owner Mark Mastrov during his visit to the News10 studios located on Broadway in downtown Sacramento.
The 41-year-old O'Neal plans to also serve as a mentor to 22-year-old Kings' center DeMarcus Cousins, who is seeking a long-term, maximum contract extension.
