SACRAMENTO, CA - The FBI wants to know if there are any Sacramento-area victims of a convicted sex offender recently arrested for the alleged continual sexual abuse of a girl on the East Coast.
Joseph Anthony Caracciolo is believed to possibly traveled and lived in California in the early to mid 1990s and been in the Sacramento area from 2003 to 2005, according to Barbara Woodruff, spokesperson for the Newark, New JerseyFBI office which recently arrested the suspect. He been charged with traveling in interstate commerce for the purpose of engaging in illicit sexual conduct with a minor.
Carracciolo has also used the names Joseph Crillo, Joseph Grillo, and Tony Gallardo. The FBI says Caracciolo has portrayed himself as a chef, pediatric dentist, business owner, salesperson, and an electrician's assistant. He has claimed to have cancer.
Caracciolo has numerous tattoos: ivy leaves on his left finger; a chef in a chef's hat with the words "Top Chef" and an underlying quote on the forearm; a cancer ribbon with boxing gloves on his forearm; the initials AJ on the inner left wrist; the letter "M" on inner right wrist; the initials NY on the left upper arm; and an "X" between the webbing of the thumb and index finger.
The FBI says Caracciolo has been in violation of sex offender registration requirements since August, 2005.
