SACRAMENTO, CA - A movie theater was evacuated after it received a bomb threat late Wednesday night.

Someone called the threat into the Century Theater at 6233 Garfield Avenue in Foothill Farms, Sacramento Metro Fire Capt. Michelle Eidem said. The theater employee who picked up the call then pulled the fire alarm, which evacuated the building.

"They were very efficient in evacuating the building, getting everybody out quickly," Eidem said. "And when we arrived, there were still people coming out, but they were moving across the parking lot pretty quickly."

The Sacramento Metro Fire Department responded to the scene after the fire alarm was activated. When the manager explained that there was a bomb threat, crews called in the sheriff's department.

When deputies got to the scene, they searched the area and the building for a suspicious device. Fortunately, nothing was found.

Eidem said as a "precautionary measure," deputies called for bomb sniffing dogs to respond to the movie theater. She explained that deputies will do another sweep of the building and the area to make sure everything is safe before allowing people back inside the building.

The scene was deemed all clear early Thursday morning.
