EL DORADO COUNTY, CA - The California Highway Patrol says no one in a deadly car crash on an El Dorado County road Thursday night was wearing a seatbelt.

The crash was on westbound Pleasant Valley Road, near Pleasant Valley Middle School, just before 10 p.m. CHP Sgt. Michael Poore said the car drove off the road around a bend and into a 150-foot pine tree and ignited in flames.

All of the car's six occupants were ejected, said CHP Officer Terry Pedretti. The 20-year-old driver was killed at the scene. One passenger remained in critical condition Friday with lower body burns and the other four were hospitalized with major injuries, including broken bones.

The car's occupants were described as young men, ages 19 to 26. Pedretti said they are all from the Placerville and Diamond Springs area.

Toxicology tests on the driver would determine whether alcohol and/or drugs were a factor in the crash, Pedretti said.

It wasn'tknown yet how fast the1994 Mercedes C280 sedan wastraveling, Pedretti said.
