ROCKLIN, CA - Several victims of catalytic converter thefts in Rocklin on Wednesday learned their car parts were recovered just hours later.
In addition, two men Huong Van Nguyen, 60, a transient, and Ton Saeteurn, 30, of Sacramento, were arrested in connection to the thefts, say police.
A police officer on patrol began unraveling events at 2:50 Wednesday morning when he stopped a vehicle in the area of Stephanie and Wesley drives for a vehicle code violation, said Capt. Lon Milka.
The officer observed four catalytic converters and tools for removing such in the vehicle of Nguyen and Saeteurn, Milka said. The men were arrested and booked into Placer County Jail on suspicion of receiving stolen property, conspiracy and possession of burglary tools.
That same morning, three Rocklin residents called the police department to report catalytic converters stripped from their vehicles. Milka said it was determined three of the recovered converters from the earlier vehicle stop matched to the victims' vehicles.
