VACAVILLE, CA - Half a dozen structures were threatened but firefighters say they have contained a six-alarm vegetation fire in Vacaville.

The fire, which burned 15 acres, was in the area ofBuena Vista Lane and Timm Road.

One outbuilding was damaged but flames were kept from several homes in the area, Cal Fire spokesman Daniel Berlant said.

Three Cal Fire air tankers, one helicopter, five engines, two bulldozers and two handcrews responded.

The Vacaville Fire Protection District also had firefighters on the scene.

Crews will be mopping up hot spots for a few hours, Berlant said.

How the fire started wasn't yet known.

Word of the flames came in to emergency responders at 2:38 p.m.
