LOS ANGELES - It took 10 years, but actor Matt Damon's revenge was oh-so-sweet after he "kidnapped" Jimmy Kimmel Thursday morning and then took over as host of Jimmy Kimmel Live Thursday night. And A-List stars seemed happy to get in on the fun.

The running gag between Kimmel and Damon centered around Kimmel bumping Damon off of his show more than 1,000 times.

"I am in command of this ship," Damon told an audience that was surprised and thrilled by the line-up of guests that Damon brought along for the show including Jennifer Lopez, Nicole Kidman, Robin Williams, Andy Garcia, Gary Oldman, Reese Witherspoon and Demi Moore.

"Just for starters," Damon told his audience, "let me ask you guys this: As an audience, is it weird to see a person with actual talent host this show?"

And where was Kimmel? He was tied to a chair, a gag in his mouth, at the back of the stage.

"I've been waiting for this moment for a long, long time," Damon said. "This is like when I lost my virginity, except this is going to last way longer than one second."

And what did TV viewers think of Damon's first appearance on ABCs Jimmy Kimmel Live? The show was ranked the No. 1 late-night program beating out NBC's The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and CBS' The Late Show with David Letterman.
