VALLEJO, CA - A man was arrested after he called police and said he killed his mother Wednesday morning.

Vallejo police officers responded to the home on the 2500 block of Marshfield Road around 11:35 a.m. and found the body of 89-year-old Nellie Turner Stanworth on the property, Lt. Jim O'Connell said.

During the search of the property, police found evidence of murder, interviewed the man who called police and arrested 70-year-old Dennis Stanworth.

O'Connell said Stanworth has a long history of violent crime. In 1966, Stanworth pled guilty to kidnapping two teenage girls in Contra Costa County, sexually assaulting them and shooting the girls to death. He was sentenced to death, but it was reversed and he was sentenced to life in prison. Stanworth was later released on parole and required to register as a sex offender.

Stanworth was booked into Solano County Jail for a count of murder, O'Connell said.
