SACRAMENTO COUNTY - A man was found dead inside of his car in a Ridge Point neighborhood early Saturday morning. Sacramento County sheriff's deputies responded to the intersection of Predial Way and Essence Way around 2 a.m. to find the man with multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body in a car, Sgt. Jason Ramos said. About 20 minutes before deputies got to the scene, the sheriff's department dispatch got a call from a man near Elkhorn Boulevard who reported that a woman waved a gun at him. The man said he was following her and another woman in a car and was able to provide a description of that car. During the call, dispatch heard, what sounded like, gunshots over the phone and then the line was disconnected.
When deputies arrived at the scene, they found a car that matched the description the man gave to dispatch. Ramos said the women were driving close to another car with a male driver. Deputies pulled over both cars and detained the three people for questioning.
It was later determined that the victim was involved in a road-rage incident with the two women shortly before calling the Sheriff's Department. After the women drove away they became worried when the man continued to follow them. It was then that the women called a male relative of theirs. Unsure of what to do, one of the women in the carcalled Brian Jones, arelative of hers, to ask what course of action they should take. It is believed that Jones determined their locationand drove his vehicle to find them, with the intention of confronting the victim. Detectives do not believe that this was a conspired event between Jones and the two women, but rather a decision made solely by Jones in response to him receiving the phone call from his relative. The two women were later released, as the Sheriff's Department believe they were played no criminal role in the death of the victim. The victim has not been identified and will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner's Office.
