SACRAMENTO, CA - A father and son are dead after they were found unconscious in their backyard pool Friday afternoon.
Police responded to the 600 block of Clipper Way after Pham Saechao returned home from a doctor's appointment just after 3 p.m. and found her 2-year-old son and husband unresponsive in the pool still wearing their clothes, Sacramento police officer Doug Morse said.
Police were first to arrive at the scene. They performed medical aid on the 2-year-old boy and then pulled the 30-year-old man from the pool. Both were rushed to UC Davis Medical Center for treatment.
Saechao is pregnant and she was also taken to the hospital as a precaution.
Brian's aunt Feuy Saechao and other relatives waited by the phone for news Friday night as they tried to figure out what went wrong.
"Nobody knows. Nobody see," Feuy Saechao said. "This is a new neighborhood. They just moved in last month."
"Not swimming," Feuy Saechao said when asked how the father and son ended up in the pool. "Maybe they fall down," another family member said.
The Sacramento County Coroner's Office said Brian Saechao, 30, and 2-year-old Rafael Seachao died later Friday. The cause of death was listed as accidental.
Police said, at this point, they do not suspect any foul play, but what led to the drowning remains unclear.
