STOCKTON, CA - Employees of a Stockton sporting goods store took things into their own hands when a man allegedly lifted a handgun from them Sunday morning.

According to Stockton police, suspect Rudolfo Manuel Martinez, 37, of Stockton, entered the Outdoor Sportsman on the 4900 block of West Lane at 11 a.m. and asked to see a handgun. With gun in hand, Martinez bolted from the store and got in what turned out to be a stolen vehicle.

Employees told responding officers they chased after the suspect, smashed a window in the vehicle and fired a stun gun at the Martinez. They held the suspect until police arrived.

Martinez was arrested on suspicion of burglary, possession of stolen propoerty and auto theft, police said.
