PLUMAS COUNTY, CA - The 22-day-old Chips Fire in the Feather River canyon and Butt Lake area is persistent, sparking spot fires and burning up to the top of a ridge south of Ohio Valley. The danger has prompted authorities to order the evacuation of Prattsville near Highway 89.

The Plumas County Sheriff's Department reminds the Canyon Dam and Big Meadows area remains under mandatory evacuation as do Caribou Road from Hwy 70 to the Butt Lake Dam, Butt Lake area, Ohio Valley, Humbug and Humboldt area, Yellow Creek area and Seneca.

There is a voluntary evacuationfor Almanor and an evacuation advisement (meaning have important papers, keepsakes, medications and pets ready to go) for West Almanor and East Shore residents.

The Chester Memorial Hall on Gay Street serves as an evacuation center.

The Chips Fire has scorched 47,040 acres. It was 32 percent contained as of Monday morning.

Ponderosa Fire

The Ponderosa Fire, southeast of Manton, broke out Saturday. It has spread to 15,000 acres in both Shasta and Tehama counties. Seven structures been destroyed. Some 3,500 homes, 20 commercial buildings and 300 outbuilding remain threatened. Crews have 5 percent containment.
